Hydro-Stop & United Coatings sites achieve ISO Certifications
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is the largest and most recognized organization in the world that develops global standards for business. Auditors examined work processes, quality management and control systems, as well as environmental impact procedures. After a nine month process and multiple site audits, Perry Smith, Charleston Plant Superintendent, is happy to display the ISO certification documents in the front lobby. "Achieving the ISO certifications validates our ongoing emphasis on manufacturing high quality products while ensuring that our environmental impact is continually reduced. We are proud of our newest certifications and will strive to set the industry benchmark in these areas as well as in safety and sales.” QCP has two manufacturing facilities – one in Charleston, SC and one in Phoenix, AZ. From these two sites, QCP manufactures products under the Hydro-Stop, United Coatings, and StreetBond brand names. |

Reason #160 to Install a "Cool Roof"
Pabst, general foreman for Korellis Roofing in Hammond, said roofers started working at 5 a.m. Tuesday in an attempt to beat the heat. As the temperature approached 90 degrees about 11 a.m., he said his workday would end soon before the temperature peaked in early afternoon. ...Pabst said Tuesday was a scorcher, but it could be worse with more heat and humidity and no breeze. Last summer, he said he had a thermometer that showed the temperature was 160 degrees while working on a roofing project. Part of the reason was because of a rubber roofing system being installed, which helps absorb heat and creates sweltering conditions for workers." Hydro-Stop's PremiumCoat Roof System is a "Cool Roof". After the final FinishCoats have been applied, PremiumCoat (white) reflects 79% of the solar energy it receives (and emits 90% of the solar energy/heat it absorbs!), resulting in a roof surface that is usually only 5-10 degrees above ambient temperatures... reason #160 to choose a "Cool Roof" system. |
