History

The Beginning... Hydro-Stop’s beginnings can be traced back through its founders, Richard Daniel and Nick Causey, who began working with sustainable “Cool Roof” systems and waterproofing back in 1987. Utilizing the cutting edge technology of the time and refining it to create a state-of-the-art roofing & waterproofing system, they believed in its potential for widespread application.

A Commitment to Hands-On Service... In the start-up years, it was not uncommon to lock the doors at the plant so that Causey and Daniel could spend the entire day on a job site, working side by side with contractors. This hands-on approach proved to be one of the backbones of strong field service for the later years with Hydro-Stop; it is still common to see one of the founders surveying a roof with customers.

A Vision... In August 1994, Causey and Daniel formed Hydro-Stop, Inc. with a vision for new and expanded materials and services in the waterproofing industry.

Together they guided the company with four founding principles:

• Manufacture the highest quality of sustainable waterproofing products possible
• Manufacture products to insure that once they are applied, they can be easily maintained with no removal needed
• Provide the best possible technical support and training available, with unsurpassed customer service
• Manufacture products that are safe for the environment, the applicators, the occupants of the buildings where applied, and for our own plant employees

The Growth Years... With many years of double-digit growth, Hydro-Stop has expanded across the US, with a global presence in the Caribbean and beyond to include the Pacific Rim. Whether found on exclusive multi-million dollar homes, on military bases, at schools, hotels, hospitals or the roofs of Fortune 100 facilities, Hydro-Stop has been praised for its performance, quality, sustainability, and cost effectiveness.

In November of 2007, Hydro Stop Inc. was acquired by Quest Specialty Chemicals Inc., and continued operations under the name Hydro Stop, LLC. Hydro-Stop compliments Quest's mission to acquire and build specialty chemical companies that have developed unique solutions to the challenges of coatings application, surface protection and the bonding of flexible and rigid substrates.

Our Team Making the Difference... Hydro-Stop has also prided itself on the selection of outstanding employees with a shared vision. The Hydro-Stop team has kept family values and a strong work ethic as the very foundation and cornerstone of the business. The entire Hydro-Stop team is a dedicated group that is working for the customer now, and will work for the customer in the future to assure the highest quality of products and field service. This is the Hydro-Stop legacy that is built everyday.

We were green before it was cool. With over 85 years of manufacturing experience, Quest Construction Products has developed a wide range of products that have been certified by the Cool Roof Rating Council®, ENERGY STAR® and major municipal rating systems such as Miami-Dade County. QCP’s roofing solutions also qualify for points from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. What’s more, QCP roofing systems such as Hydro-Stop PremiumCoat are sustainable for the life of the building. When properly installed by a certified applicator, a 10 to 20 year warranty is available for specific roofing applications. The warranty can be extended every 10 years under a proper maintenance schedule. That means the roof will never need to be torn off: there will never be a need to put roofing debris into landfills.
